Here’s a great example of the legendary Series 80 Colt 45acp. Carried for years by an L.E. officer, it shows wear on it’s hard chrome finish, but works great. Manufactured in 1990. It’s been maintained by an armory gunsmith, so the worst thing about it is its scuffed finish. Five-inch barrel with factory bushing, standard recoil spring, plus a new spare recoil spring. It comes with a new Allen ITP-style holster, two new belt mount magazine pouches, plus two new OEM-style Eagle magazines. The slide and frame show light pitting and light scratches, especially at the frame nose. Backstrap, safety and slide release show beginning signs of chrome chipping. The frame looks very good, but two chips in the plating around the trigger guard. Detail photos were overexposed to magnify the scratches and wear on the barrel, slide and backstrap. Excellent to continue to use as is, or a perfect base for a refinish and customize job. Barrel nose has some finish chipping, but is otherwise in great shape. The original grips are tired. I didn’t want to try to guess what new grips a buyer might want, so the ghost pistols is priced accordingly.

This unique and cool model was built by combining a Colt Commander-sized frame with an Officer’s Model-sized slide and barrel.  It features a spectacular mirror-like factory bright stainless steel finish rating 98% PLUS, special smooth Rosewood grips, a ring-style hammer, a beavertail grip safety, an arched mainspring housing, and dark-blue fixed 3-dot iron sights that give the pistol two little spots of nice contrasting colors.  The slide of this is really cool and unique Colt is marked on the right side with ” GENERAL OFFICER’S MODEL”, and the left side is marked “Colt Mk.IV Series 80”.  The frame carried the serial number of “SS26246”.  As you can see from the pictures, this rare Colt has likely spent it’s ENTIRE life in storage.  It is exceptionally clean and handsome, and we would bet a large sum of money that it has been factory test-fired only.  The front face of the slide shows no primer ring around the hole for the firing pin, the muzzle end of the barrel shows only a faint ring where it makes metal-to-metal contact with the slide when forward or in-battery, the chamber area of the barrel shows only very, very faint marks from rubbing inside the slide when the slide is worked, and the internal parts look pristine with no visible mechanical wear. This is really a special Colt that is rarely available on the collector’s market.  If you are a serious Colt collector or if you just collect 1911-style pistols from any manufacturer, this Colt General Officer’s Model Mk.IV Series 80 pistol would be a centerpiece addition that would be impossible to upgrade from in any meaningful respect.
