WHAT IS A STRIPPED UPPER RECEIVER?

A stripped upper receiver is the foundation of a firearm. It houses the barrel, bolt carrier group, and charging handle to the lower receiver. It is the first thing you will need after you complete your 80% lower receiver.

An armorer’s wrench, headspace gauge, vice and other simple garage tools are all you need to assist with building an upper receiver.

The upper receiver houses the most commonly customized components in the AR-15. Whether it’s a precision barrel, or a new charging handle, it often makes more sense to build from the ground up, rather than to replace parts later on. Save some money and do it right the first time!
